Description of Services:	Helps people with all levels of vision loss to develop or restore key daily living skills * helps enhance independence, safety and mobility * ophthalmologists, optometrists, certified specialists and other health care professionals work together to create a personalized rehabilitation plan to meet the individuals needs and goals * plan may include one or more of the following services: Low vision services provides a functional vision assessment explains eye diseases and how they affect vision in an easy-to-understand way teaches techniques for maximizing eyesight offers one-on-one instruction on sight-enhancing devices Essential skills for daily living teaches safe methods of pouring hot liquids, preparing a meal and using household appliances teaches techniques for labelling medications, identifying money, using the phone and organizing household items teaches how to use large-print, braille and audio products, and adaptive technology as a part of day-to-day life helps find community programs, financial subsidies and other helpful resources Travel and mobility instruction offers guiding techniques: comfortable way to walk with a sighted person, use a white cane and other mobility tools, find and cross intersections, ride public transit with confidence, navigate new environments like a workplace or school, the ability to use remaining vision and other senses to travel Services for children and families: gives children the support they need, like braille preparation, tactile learning sessions and peer programs provides parents with educational materials, access to local resources, and workshops on raising a child who is blind or partially-sighted Pre-school children are eligible to receive services through Ontario's Blind and Low Vision Program Assistive technology services provides an assessment and recommendations on assistive technologies as well training for the devices helps with getting the tools needed for the workplace or school helps find financial supports needed for the purchase of assistive products through the Ontario Assistive Device Program Services and Programs: Timmins
