Description of Services: The Safe Beds Program (SBP) is a voluntary residential program that provides psychosocial rehabilitation services with a recovery-oriented philosophy.

There are 2 components:

  • Short stay (7-10 days): for individuals experiencing a mental health or addictions related crisis (2 beds)
  • Police mandated (up to 30 days): for individuals in immediate contact with the police(4 beds)

    Who is eligible?

  • valid OHIP coverage
  • individuals experiencing a mental health/addictions crisis
  • individuals who can be safely supported in the community
  • Requirements
    Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Clients with Legal Issues Only
    Age: All
    Application: An eligibility screener will be conducted with each referral Referrals are accepted up to 24 hours prior to the anticipated admission date. Short Stay Beds: - Referrals are accepted from all sources - Priority will be given to referrals received from hospitals or correction services Police Mandated Beds: Referrals are accepted only from: - Police - Crisis Intervention following police involvement - Individuals brought to hospital under the Mental Health Act by police
